Summary:It is shown for the first time that aluminum oxide whiskers with a porous structure grow on ceramic made from the lead-zinc ore beneficiation wastes with the addition of granular aluminum. The morphology of the grown whiskers was studied. It is shown that a whisker has the shape of a cone with a metal drop on its vertex. X-ray phase and electron-microscopic studies with mapping of the whiskers were performed. The complex composition of a metal drop on the vertex of a whisker is noted. A possible mechanism of their formation is discussed.
