Summary:Oscillator strengths of absorption transitions from the metastable [sup.5][D.sub.0] state of [Eu.sup.3+] ions in aluminoboratepolycrystals with the huntite structure were determined using crystal-field theory. It was established that the oscillator strength of the [sup.5][D.sub.0] [right arrow] [sup.5][F.sub.4] transition, which was resonant with the [sup.5][D.sub.0] → [sup.7][F.sub.2] transition, was many times greater than that for other resonant transitions of [Eu.sup.3+] ions. The transition [sup.5][D.sub.0] → [sup.5][H.sub.6] had the minimum oscillator strength among such resonant absorption transitions.
