Light is one of the foundations of our lives. It has far more responsibilities than expected. According to the spectral distribution, it influences the human body--equal to the natural rhythm of the sun. In addition to the physically detectable effect on the organism, colour perception individually associates unconscious feelings. Based on additive colour mixing, the presented EtherLED[R] technology allows the user to create an agreeable light climate and the possibility to influence the viewer's mood. Colour stimuli trigger the observer's feelings and associations, which are based on internalized personal and cultural experiences that cover a certain range from positive to negative aspects. Nevertheless, each colour has its own basic quality with the same sensation valid for most people. Furthermore, the system used is able to produce biodynamic light of different colour temperatures to simulate a naturally lit environment. Developed at the Heinz-Nixdorf Lehrstuhl fur Medizinische Elektronik, Technische Universitat Munchen, it was our aim to bring the substantial benefits like high efficiency, small form factor, and long life span based on solid-state illumination to general lighting applications such as ambient illumination or dynamic lighting. In 2009, we therefore focused on our research spin-off, Ambright Ambient Lighting Solutions. In order to meet with varied customers needs and wants, as well as various application environments, Ambright offers a wide diversity of LED lighting fixtures in nearly all imaginable shades of colour. Within our variety of products, Ambright costumers can choose their personal favourites to create a unique and atmospheric mood for every occasion. Its energy efficiency and durability of our LED fixtures make them a perfect partner for a memorable light and colour experience well regarded by architects, booth- and store-designers, or lighting engineers. The full extent of psycho-aesthetic lighting can be exploited through use of the presented EtherLED[R] system with sophisticated RGBW emitters for architectural and wellness industries. Intelligent controllers enable a personalized colour and brightness selection and thus permit the realization of a pleasant, dynamic, and variable light climate, thus providing the right lighting solution to satisfy every client's unique demand.
