Synthesis of New BisMethanes Catalyzed by Benzylsulfamic Acid and Evaluation of Their Antimicrobial Activities

Benzylsulfamic acid has been prepared and introduced as a new heterogeneous acid catalyst. This reagent was used for the synthesis of new bis(indolyl)methanes 3a - 3f via reaction of bis-aldehydes 1 with indoles 2 at 100°C. All reactions were performed under solvent-free conditions with high to exce...

Summary:Benzylsulfamic acid has been prepared and introduced as a new heterogeneous acid catalyst. This reagent was used for the synthesis of new bis(indolyl)methanes 3a - 3f via reaction of bis-aldehydes 1 with indoles 2 at 100°C. All reactions were performed under solvent-free conditions with high to excellent yields. The synthesized bis(indolyl)methanes were evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
