Summary:The main cause of cardiovascular disease and high rates of overweight, and obesity and malnutrition is inadequate food consumption. Age above 60 years is marked by bodily changes, problems associated with teething, gastrointestinal and psychological that may reflect the nutritional status. A healthy diet should be varied, balanced in order to meet the energy and nutritional needs of the individual. The aim of this study was to evaluate the intake of macronutrients and link to nutritional status. UnATI through the 24-hour recall and the body mass index--22 elderly of the Open University of the Third Age were evaluated. As a result, we found that 76.9% of the elderly have less than the required consumption, 63.64% have to be eutrophic. Key words: Elderly. Nutritional status. Body mass index. Nutrients. A principal causa de doencas cardiovasculares, e dos elevados indices de sobrepeso e obesidade assim como a desnutricao e a inadequacao no consumo de alimentos. A faixa etaria acima dos 60 anos e marcada por modificacoes corporais, problemas ligados a denticao, gastrointestinais e psicologicos que podem refletir no estado nutricional. Uma alimentacao saudavel deve ser variada, equilibrada, a fim de satisfazer as necessidades energeticas e nutricionais do individuo. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o consumo de macronutrientes e associar ao estado nutricional. Foram avaliados 22 idosos da Universidade Aberta a Terceira Idade--UNATI, atraves do recordatorio de 24 horas e do indice de massa corporal. Como resultado, verificamos que 76,9% dos idosos apresentam consumo inferior ao necessario, 63,64% apresentam-se eutroficos. Palavras-chave: Idosos. Estado nutricional. Indice de massa corporal.
