Summary: | Many users are frustrated with hardware and software vendors and resellers who show a lack of sensitivity toward their needs. Dealers and vendors do not appear aware that microcomputer technology is used as a basis for real-world production systems and that users cannot simply wait for the next release for bug fixes or for future products to provide a function they need immediately. A new professional association consisting of end users should be organized to pressure vendors and promote safeguards that would encourage the use of microcomputers in production business systems. Such a group would develop guidelines for software license agreements and for vendor problem management, 'certify' individual developers' customer-relations procedures, create guidelines for reseller support, publish a newsletter and provide a directory of known problems. |
