Summary: | Joseph Stalin's role in bringing about World War II should be debated in the context of Viktor Suvorov's expose, 'The Icebreaker.' Some historians believe the subject of Stalin's involvement is ridiculous, but Suvorov argues that it is consistent with Stalin's aggressive strategies. Suvorov asserts that in 1939 Stalin had sinister motives for signing a nonaggression pact with Adolph Hitler, which made a European war certain. Ostensibly, Stalin used the German attack on the Soviet Union in 1941 to benefit Bolshevism. |
