Summary: | Unless better prefaced with this disclaimer, it is hard to see how a better understanding of the range limits of White-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta carolinensis) sub- species is of more interest than the effects of climate change, changes in wildfire extent and intensity, post-fire management, mechanical fuel- reduction treatments, or cattle grazing. Examples include the color and posture of the Hammond's Flycatcher (Empido- nax hammondii), the illustration of a Song Sparrow (Melospiza melodia) race I don't believe breeds in the Sierra Nevada, and a very well-fed Yellow-breasted Chat (Icteria virens). |
