Summary: | At a time where databases contain millions of data records and their organization gets complex, the visualization especially of metadata gets a necessity to get an overview of the database performance. In this paper we’ll provide an insight into a research project commissioned by Crate Technology GmbH, who developed an elastic SQL Data Store that is massively scalable [1]. The aim of our efforts in the UCT Research Institute is to find different ways to visualize the data state in such a cluster. In particular we investigated the development opportunities of radar charts in database metadata visualization and the visual appearance of the developing shapes. During the paper, the primary challenges of the project will be displayed and comparable products will be investigated. In the last part, we’ll give a short insight to our work in progress, deal with the issue of form perception and also present further required efforts. |
