Summary: | Dodd examines how art criticism focuses on the authenticity of feeling in several visual artists' abstract renditions of landscape, highlighting Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings. Aside from appreciating the artistic quality of the abstract works, she notes that the term abstract expressionism is a marvelously handy portmanteau of aesthetic value in such pieces. Moreover, the emphasis of O'Keeffe's works of art had to be a frank expression of the feelings of the individual who produced it, without regard for conventional rules or the styles of any other artist. |
