Summary:A virtual conference on February I) thIs year, sponsored by the International Society for Technology in Education, brought forth five technological issues predicted to change the way education occurs (http:f/www.eschoolnews. com(201 4/02/ 17/5-tech-trends-620/?J. Of these (big data, augmented reality, the semantic web, extreme bring-your-owndevice, and transmedia storytelling), many will and are having serious impact on teaching and learning. Learners are finding themselves immersed in the reality of that learning; the web is working hard to become a predictor of needs in learning; students like learning on their own devices, as it helps them customize learning to their needs; and finally, storytelling, while very traditional in its value, is becoming more and more entangled in technology, using all kinds of media to enhance its value to the learner.
