Summary:The relationship between alcohol use by high school athletes and the manifestation of the psychological factors of tension-anxiety, depression, anger, fatigue, confusion and self-esteem was examined. Results revealed that athletes who drink alcohol tend more to exhibit anger, compared to those who do not drink. Differences in the other psychological factors were not statistically significant. Results also showed that male athletes were more pressured to win, compared to their female counterparts.
