Summary: | Water is a special substance. Not only do we rely on water for our survival, but it is also fascinating to play with and makes a great topic to investigate. Figure 1 shows young Chloe having a wonderful time immersing herself in a sensory exploration of water in Pop's fishpond. Lucky for Chloe, her mother, Cath, recognised that young children learn about the world around them through discovery. Just as the sounds, sights, feel, and smell of the water captivated Chloe's attention, many simple investigations can be done with water, at home or at school, to guide children's science learning. This article describes a sequence of online learning experiences that were set for Foundation-level children in Sydney NSW, during the recent school lockdown due to Covid-19. |
