Summary: | This paper is concerned with the development of a statistical model with the purpose to evaluate under which conditions the introduction of flexible work in a full-time environment may produce an increase of profit and/or occupation. The model allows to determine the optimum levels of full-time and part-time occupation, following some economical and/or social criteria. It includes (following Bollani 1987 and Bollani 1992) labour time flexibility among the productive factors and it shows that, in the case of a demand function periodically variable with time, part-time work may increase profit and/or occupation with respect to an only full-time environment managed to give maximum profit. |
