Equilibria in the system MgO-SiO2-H2O; experimental determination of the stability of Mg-anthophyllite

New experimental equilibrium data for the reactions T + E = A, T + F = A + W, and A + F = E + W, and additional experimental data for the reactions T + F = E + W, T = E + Q + W, T = A + Q + W and A = E + Q + W, are reported (where A = anthophyllite, E = enstatite, F = forsterite, Q = quartz, T = tal...

Summary:New experimental equilibrium data for the reactions T + E = A, T + F = A + W, and A + F = E + W, and additional experimental data for the reactions T + F = E + W, T = E + Q + W, T = A + Q + W and A = E + Q + W, are reported (where A = anthophyllite, E = enstatite, F = forsterite, Q = quartz, T = talc and W = water). The degree to which thermodynamic properties of the solid phases affect the positions of the equilibrium curves drawn through the experimental brackets presented in this paper is discussed in a companion paper.
