Summary: | For more than 115 years, Hillerich & Bradsby Co. (H&B) and its Louisville Slugger brand have supplied America's favorite pastime with bats first crafted from wood and more recently from aluminum. It also designs and markets PowerBilt golf clubs and Louisville Slugger gloves, mitts and wearing apparel. H&B is a family business, led for 5 generations by the Hillerich family. By the company's 100th anniversary, H&B faced significant challenges. Concerned and looking for new ideas, CEO Jack Hillerich attended a 4-day seminar conducted by W. Edwards Deming. It was the beginning of a quality journey that still gives direction to the company's continuous improvement efforts. The company's Louisville Slugger Division sells around 1 million wood bats and 1.5 metal bats annually, and has approximately 70% of the professional bat market. |
