Summary: | Language enables people to describe their perceptions of the real world. However, people often mistake their impressions to be the totality of what exists 'out there,' adopt these as their reality and act accordingly. People need to recognize and understand that language-based self-concepts need not hinder them from pursuing their goals. They can escape this trap by conducting honest self-evaluations that truly analyze their own potentials. |
