Summary:The effect of five levels of irrigation in the castor bean cultivar BRS Paraguaçu, at spatial distribution of the root system. The evaluation was performed by using the method aided by digital images and analysis using the software SIARCS® . The cumulative length of roots of castor bean cultivar BRS Paraguaçu along the depth, showed that 80% of the length of roots were found in the layer from 0 to 0,45 m depth, the results obtained along the horizontal distance showed that 80% of the length of roots are within a distance of up to 0,55 m from the stem of the plant, these ranges are more suitable to install monitoring sensors for irrigation and fertirrigation.
