Summary: | Haemophilus somnus, a common bacterial pathogen of cattle, has been isolated and identified only recently in Israel from cases of bovine bronchopneumonia, fresh bovine semen, and from a case of bovine mastitis. Bovine mastitis is rarely caused by H. somnus, but naturally and experimentally induced cases have been recorded. However, to the best of our knowledge, chronic spontaneous cases with continued isolation of the agent have not been described. This paper reports such a case, with emphasis on the detectability of the agent over a two-month period. |
