Summary:A five year old, male fallow deer was presented with clinical signs of acidosis Mean blood values were: pH 7.29, pCO2 36.5 mmHg, and HCO3:22.3 mmol/l. Following isotonic and elecrolyte fluid, NaHCO3 (0.8%), enrofloxacin, nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drug and B-complex vitamin administration; the patient normalised within 24 hours.
