Summary: | Consolidation tests were performed on compacted unsaturated sandy soils regarding drainage control conditions. From these, the following results were obtained. (1) The development of pore pressure by loading is delayed by the viscoelastic property of compacted soil. Due to this reason, as the pore pressure dissipated at the same time of the development of pore pressure in the case that the drainage starts at the instant of loading, so the measured pore pressure and coefficient of consolidation obtained from the ε-log t relation are lacking definiteness in their properties. (2) The development of pore pressure under the undrained condition increased as the increment of the compacted moisture content. However, it became small after the consolidation. (3) The μ-log t curve on the process of consolidation of soil compacted wet of ωopt is similar to the curve of Terzaghi's consolidation theory, but the ε-log t curves are divided into two types by the value of Δu/Δp at the start of consolidation. (4) The coefficient of permeability from consolidation is much smaller than that from the permeability test. |
