Summary: | Integration of the environmental dimension into other field is now a specific objective of EC environmental policy. Little progress has been made to date in the energy area, which has been central to the economies of member states for much longer than the environment. Indeed, some of the objectives of EC energy policy clearly conflict with this aim. Some fundamental political, economic and institutional changes will be necessary if environmental considerations are to be applied to energy policies, rather than just to their results. |
