Summary:Objective: to analyze the circumstances of death of rural women killed in the gender perspective. Method: a qualitative study performed by means of document analysis of police investigations of rural women murders, filed in police stations of eight municipalities of the Southern half of Rio Grande do Sul and semi-structured interviews were carried out with families of the victims. Results: the construction of two categories: The circumstances of feminicides the description of the situations of death, that describe the stories of the death of rural women and Violence of gender - the configuration of feminicide which addresses vulnerabilities of victimized women. Conclusion: the deaths were related to violence resulting from contexts of social isolation, to the condition of poverty, to the absence of job opportunities and others secondary factors that represent the vulnerability of women to the situation of death.
