Abstract In questo lavoro si analizzano, con metodo contrastivo, vari costrutti all'infinito all'interno di tre testi diversi: testo maggiore A e B delle Meditationes Vitae Christi, e testo originale latino. Nell" ambito dell'analisi sintattica si trattano il fenomeno del controllo, l'accusativo con infinito, nonché la sintassi dei verbi percettivi e fattitivi. L'indagine sintattica svolta corrobora Vipotesi, largamente diffusa tra gli studios! del settore, secondo la quale il testo originale delle MVC è il latino, e dimostra che 1 due volgarizzamenti analizzati rappresentano due traduzioni molto diverse: il testo maggiore A segue assai fedelmente il testo latino, anche dal punto di vista sintattico, mentre l'autore del testo maggiore B si distacca liberamente dal suo modello latino, basandosi molto di piu sulla propria competenza volgare di parlante nativo del toscano medievale e utilizzando quindi meno latinismi sintattici rispetto al volgarizzatore del testo A.

In this work we analyze, with contrastive method, various infinitive constructions within three different texts: testo maggiore A and B of the MeditationesVitaeChristi, and original Latin text. In the context of syntactic analysis, the phenomenon of control, the accusative with the infinitive, as well as the syntax of perception and causative verbs are treated. The syntactic investigation carried out corroborates the hypothesis, widely spread among scholars in the field, according to which the original text of the MVC is Latin, and it demonstrates that the two vernacularizations ana-lyzed represent two very different translations: testo maggiore A follows the Latin text very faithfully, also from the syntactic point of view, while the author of testo maggiore B freely departs from his Latin model, relying much more on his vernacular competence as a native speaker of medieval Tuscan language and therefore using less syntactic Latinisms than the writer of vernacular text A.
