Summary:The paper deals with the relationship between sustainability, media advertisements and their effect on children. This topic is highly relevant as children nowadays grow up watching TV and will be the consumers of tomorrow. The perpetual growth of consuming goods does not serve the sustainable development. Advertisements constantly remind us to purchase new goods. Adults may be able to look at these ads from a critical point of view, but children, who are much more vulnerable, tend to take a dream world for reality. The paper presents an empirical research of 7-9 year old children. The primordial question is how the commercials affect the children´s view on the world, their view on themselves, their own and their family´s present and future consuming habits.
