Summary: | [In two fenced areas of Mediterranean bush, each 14 ha of surface area, 55 pigs (barrows and gilts) were reared: 14 (7 CS and 7 LW x CS) in one and 41 (20 CS and 21 LW x CS) in the other one. Subjects were fed the same diet and controlled every 40 days. Pigs were slaughtered at 140 kg average live weight. The crossbreds showed faster growth and less development of backfat. Density resulted significantly different only in the first period of growth. At dissection LW x CS pigs showed heavier side, total lean cuts, ham and loin and lighter fat cuts, backfat and belly. Density and sex did not affected the studied parameters.]
