Summary:This study has as a main focus to conceptualize and characterize the Countryside Education and its practices supported by the school library, paying attention to the specificities of the countryside identity and the cultural richness that it produces, and not just as a mere reproducer of the urban education. For that, the reflections presented in this article, that in itself is a part of a master's research in Science Education at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, come from a bibliographical revision that intends to lift the state of the art and understand relevant factors in the current scenario of the Countryside Education supported by the school library. The results of the analysis made, have shown that the union of knowledge of the countryside and the knowledge captured in the classroom and library is potent and enriching, making for a truly significant and collaborative learning experience.
