Summary:Poverty is one of the most important issues in México. In order to face it, the government has developed social policies looking for more efficient ways to distribute financial resources through focused transfers towards vulnerable groups in marginated areas. The goal of this research was to analyze the social policy and specifically the distribution of financial resources in areas of the State of Puebla carried out by the program called Oportunidades in 2005. The analysis was done with information give by governmental institutions. The financial resources were mainly directed to the regions where the poorest population lived, nevertheless these resources were not enough to effectively fight poverty and revert the situation.
