Summary:Is there a sociology of intellectuals in Mexico? Definitely not! What little has been written about this social category still does not acquire the character of sociological expertise. It is appropriate to say it, but what has been written about the intellectuals (biographies, ideologies, functions and relations with the powers that be) has corresponded to other disciplines. In México, dominated two trends on the study of intellectuals: firstly, the scrutiny of the relationship they have had with the Prince in history and political science; another trend, or cultural journalism, has privileged the biographical review of intellectuals. The objective of this work is to examine representations, transformations, niches ofwork and "deaths" of the intelligentsia, and Mexican intellectuals in particular, because a review the reticle of the programs of undergraduate and graduate programs in sociology taught in the country you will find lines of research related to the field of the sociology of intellectuals are conspicuous by their absence: here is the importance of this work for the social sciences, and sociology in particular.
