Summary:While an important infectious disease in the United States and Eurasia, Lyme disease is rare in Iran. We present a 9-year old boy admitted in Children’s Medical Center in December 2001 with final diagnosis of Lyme disease. On admission he showed arthritis and a history of previous skin lesions. Serologic examination including enzyme–linked immunosorbent assay and Western blot was positive for Lyme borreliosis. Patient was treated with doxycycline for four weeks, with good results. Although it is difficult to confirm diagnosis of Lyme disease in our patients, we should be aware that Lyme borreliosis is also found in Iran.
