Summary:This article focuses on the trajectories of homeless and precarious trans women in Tehran who resort to sex work to support themselves due to structural gender and sexuality discrimination they experience as a result of transphobia and for some, following the loss of their jobs and housing. It proposes an analysis of their trajectories of trans women through the economic, social, and political conditions that led them to work as sex workers. This research is mainly based on in-depth and semi-structured interviews. The corpus is completed by some ethnographic observations of the daily activities of these women. This article first shows how the absence of specialized public protections for trans people in Iran constructs the economic and social precariousness of these trans women sex workers. It then analyzes the exclusion of trans women sex workers within trans groups.
