Summary:Introduction. In the context of changes and development of modern society, the problem of preserving family values is becoming more urgent. The aim of the work is to study the expression of family values of different functional orientations among university students in the context of their controlled and spontaneous assimilation, as well as the ratio of different groups of these values. Materials and methods. The study was conducted on a target student sample of full-time students using two research methods. The first scale of “Family values” (Gorbacheva E.I., Gorobtsova A.A.) consists of two blocks, one of which includes terminal and the other – instrumental family values. The methodology “Sources of spontaneous and controlled assimilation of values” (Gorbacheva E.I., Gorobtsova A.A.) consists of two blocks of sources of appropriation of value aspects related to family activities. The results obtained using two methods were included in the system of descriptive statistics. For further analysis of the results, Friedman's nonparametric χ2 criterion, Spearman's nonparametric rs – rank correlation criterion, Pearson's agreement criterion, and Wilcoxon's nonparametric T-criterion were used. Results: it is proved that family values in the minds of students function on a social, group and individual level. Higher rates of assimilation of values in the process of observing parents and relatives once again confirm the importance of the influence of the behavior model of the parental family on the formation of human values. It is proved that terminal and instrumental family values represent a single structure, but the revealed differences are represented in the conjugated functioning of family terminal and instrumental values at the individual level.
