Summary:The article is devoted to the issue of conducting spirometry in children and evaluating of its results. To date, spirometry is one of the most accessible methods of researching the respiratory system, and the availability of modern, compact and affordable devices allows for the testing of lung function in any medical institution. The aim of the article is to raise awareness of spirometry, as spirometry is not always used in primary care settings, even where it is indicated. This problem can be solved by training pediatricians and family physicians in the testing and clinical interpretation of pulmonary function tests, which will improve the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of respiratory diseases in children. The article, based on clinical examples, presents the main modern requirements for conducting spirometry and interpreting the research results. Key words. Spirometry, children, pulmonary function tests, lung diseases.
