Summary: | A female patient, 33 years old, was directed to the Stomatology Clinic with a main complaint of "burning tongue." In the anamnesis, the patient reported burning on the lower left alveolar ridge, on the tip and on the lateral tongue, on both the right and left sides. At the clinical examination, the patient did not present any other notable alteration, being diagnosed with burning mouth syndrome. The protocol used was the laser application at infrared wavelength (880 nm), at 100 mW, for 28 seconds, 15 points, 1 J in each, in the anterior region of the tongue and 3 points, 2 J in each, in the ridge region. In the posterior third, the application was in scan: 600 J/cm2 for 150 seconds. In the fourth session, via the visual analog scale (VAS), the patient reported a significant improvement. Eight sessions were performed until the total absence of the symptoms. |
