Summary: | Objective: This study aimed to analyze the socioepidemiologic profile of patients with special needs seen at a reference clinic in the first 2 years of its implementation. Study Design: After approval by the Research Ethics Committee, the sample consisted of 58 records that were analyzed and then the data pertinent to the research were extracted. Records with poor completion were excluded. Results: Exactly half (50.00%) of the patients were female. Of the sample, the majority were in the 15- to 29-year-old age group (46.6%), and the minority were in the age group over 60 years (3.4%). Afro-Caucasians made up 46.6% and Caucasians 34.5%. As for the profession or occupation, 24.1% were students and 15.5% were farmers. Regarding the special condition, it was observed that in 86.2%, the condition was permanent, whereas in only 13.8%, it was temporary. Conclusion: Epidemiologic research is of great importance for the improvement of the service offered, bringing benefits to the population and supplying the needs of the public service. |
