Summary: | The article examines the relevance and importance of first aid training for law enforcement officers in the context of their professional activities. The basic principles of providing first aid in extreme conditions are outlined, including algorithms for assessing the victim’s condition, conducting cardiopulmonary resuscitation, stopping critical bleeding, and using modern tactical medical equipment. It is noted that law enforcement officers often work in high-risk conditions, where medical care may be unavailable in the first critical minutes after injury or trauma. That is why first aid training is a necessary component of their professional training, which allows significantly increasing the survival rate of victims before the arrival of qualified medical services. The article also analyzes international training standards, such as TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care), and their adaptation to Ukrainian realities. The study examines the training programs and training methods used in law enforcement agencies, as well as the main challenges associated with the implementation of the pre-medical training system in Ukraine. The results of the study confirm that proper pre-medical training contributes to reducing mortality and increasing the overall combat readiness of personnel. The conclusions emphasize the need for a systematic approach to training, regular practical training, and the introduction of modern simulation technologies into the training process of law enforcement officers. It was also established that the general definition of one’s own safety is formed from several components: physical, biological, legal, and psychological safety. The physical component is formed by a qualitative assessment of the place of provision of pre-medical care, the use of tactical skills by a law enforcement officer, and the elimination or cessation of the action of a physical traumatic factor. The biological component is formed by the ability to use personal protective equipment during contact with the victim. The legal component is formed by a high level of knowledge of the regulatory and legal framework by a law enforcement officer. The psychological component is formed by the presence of all the previous components, as well as a high level of mental health of the law enforcement officer, the ability to remain calm and focus on the assigned tasks. It is emphasized that an important role in forming an understanding of one’s own safety by a law enforcement officer is played by the provision of high-quality specialized higher education. |
