Greater scaup（ Aythya marila, Anatidea, Anseriformes）was only recorded in Dandong, Dalian, Yingkou and Jinzhou of Liaoning Province and Xianghai National Nature Reserve of Jiiin Province in northeast China, but not in the Changbai Mountains. Three pairs of greater scaup were photographed at an artificial lake of Erdaobaihe River on the north slope of Changbai Mountain on 13 April 2016. The species was thus identified as a new recorded species in Changbai Mountains.
