ChemInform Abstract: Stereoselective Synthesis of (R)‐(‐) and (S)‐(+)‐Phoracantholide I from (R)‐(+)‐γ‐Valerolactone

Enantiomerically pure γ‐valerolactone is used as substrate for (I) and its (S) antipode, thus opening a suitable approach to the synthesis of complex macrolides.
