The cover picture shows a chemical profile analysis of extracts from leaves and calli of rosemary, obtained by both maceration and pressurized liquid extraction. Undifferentiated rosemary cells accumulate the same compounds identified mainly in highly specialized tissues such as leaves. A diversity of metabolites was identified, and the content of rosmarinic acid, carnosic acid and carnosol were quantified. The plant cell culture supplies the possibility of developing biotechnological processes to obtain compounds of commercial interest in pharmaceutic and food industries. |
