Summary:Through the use of camera traps we recorded the presence of an individual of the rufous-necked wood rail (Aramides axillaris) on the edge of Sierra Sur and coastal plains of the Pacific in the state of Oaxaca. This record is remarkable for two reasons: the altitude and the vegetation, so the present record is the highest for Mexico (834 msnm) and the first for semideciduous tropical forest.
