This paper summarized the development,protection and management status of uninhabited islands in Fujian province.It analyzed the opportunity on development of uninhabited islands from the perspective of the gradually perfect laws and regulations,which also pointed out the problems of high investment cost and long payback period,the homogeneity and low quality of development,the destruction of islands ecological and environmental resources,the unresolved historical issues and the failure of different islands to be classification managed.On this basis,countermeasures and suggestions were proposed on exploring a new development mode of islands,speeding up regional Islands planning,straightening out islands protection and management system,hierarchical management of islands.
