Summary: | This study aims to analyse the involvement of students in the educational system with the 2030 Agenda and its relationship to climate change. The case study was conducted in a city, Itapema, in the state of Santa Catarina, south of Brazil. It uses the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and the Land Surface Temperature (TST), to enable the identification of the occurrence of heat islands and their relationship with the engagement of society. To calculate the temperature, a Landsat image was used, with spatial resolution of 30 meters. The work in the city was divided into three stages. Initially, distinct groups of students were identified based on their age, gender, and level of education within the educational system. It is suggested that it is necessary to create interdisciplinary programs that include the topic of climate change as a mandatory element in the syllabus of the subjects. Students expressed interest in promoting actions to mitigate the effects of climate change and prevent an increase in carbon emissions. However, these young people presented lack information on how to achieve this, they are unaware of the national and international sustainable development goals, as well as the actions being developed. |
