Summary:Oral candidiasis is a fungal infection caused primarily by the fungus Candida albicans, a pathogen found in 35-80 % of healthy mouths; however, any dysbiosis can lead to the eruption of oral Candida, causing a pathogenic condition in mucous membranes and soft tissues. Currently, natural extracts in oral health are having a positive impact as an alternative for treatment against various bacterial and fungal species, highlighting the use of green tea due to its high content of phenols and polyphenols. The objective of the following study was to present the basic aspects of natural extracts and the results of a pilot study on the antifungal effect of green tea in culture with C. albicans, as well as to establish the therapeutic advantages.
