Abstract When we need a bone block, a well-performed open or arthroscopic Latarjet procedure is a powerful tool. The Latarjet remains the current gold standard for surgical treatment of large anterior glenoid defects and it is projected that performance of Latarjet will continue to increase in the United States, while Bankart repair declines. What patients want to know is, "When can I expect to return to work or sport after Latarjet?" Return to work is dictated by occupation. Recent research shows that time to return to work can range from approximately 2 to as long as 8 months, and 89-100% of patients eventually return to work after Latarjet. Return to sport is influenced by the sport and position played. When we need a bone block, a well-performed open or arthroscopic Latarjet procedure is a powerful tool.
