Summary:Abstract Seven commonly grown bedding plants were selected for evaluation. These plants, grown at a commercial nursery in Carpinteria, CA, were heavily infested with larvae of Liriomyza trifolii. One-half of the infested plants were treated with Trigard 75W at 0.125 lb (AI)/acre and the remaining plants were left unsprayed. Five representative treated plants of each species and 5 representative untreated plants of each species were returned to the laboratory at UCR for evaluation. The plants were tipped over individual cafeteria trays covered with a layer of sand and held at 26.7°C. The surviving leafminer larvae emerged from the leaves, dropped to the sand and pupated. After all the larvae had pupated, the sand was sifted to collect the pupae, which were counted and held for adult emergence.
