Summary:Spondias mombin, a medicinal plant rich in bioactive compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, has been explored for its protective effects against drug-induced toxicity. Hence, the objective of this paper is to assess the histological evaluation of the protective effects of Spondias mombin against ibuprofen-induced uterine toxicity in Wistar rats using appropriate standard methods. Histological analysis of uterine tissues revealed that ibuprofen administration led to severe endometrial ulceration, stromal myxoid changes, and glandular degeneration. However, co-administration or pre-treatment with Spondias mombin significantly preserved uterine architecture, maintaining endometrial integrity and reducing histopathological alterations. Notably, pre-treatment with Spondias mombin before ibuprofen exposure provided the most pronounced protective effect. These findings suggest that Spondias mombin possesses potential therapeutic properties that mitigate ibuprofen-induced uterine toxicity, likely through its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms. Further research is needed to elucidate the molecular pathways involved and explore its clinical applications in reproductive health.
