Summary:In West Bengal Economy, the role of agriculture is still very important. This paper shows that in most of the districts of West Bengal, the agricultural productivity or yield rate of different food and cash crops have increased since 2000-01. Using panel data fixed effect regression technique, it is proved that average harvest price of the previous year, average rainfall and average money wage rate of the agricultural labourers play a positive role behind this improvement of average yield rate in agricultural production. Positive relationship between average yield rate of agricultural production and average agricultural wage establishes consumption efficiency relationship.
