Environmental standards for fluoride are based on control of emissions at source and the concentrations in air, vegetation and water. This paper discusses the standards for fluorides based on control of emissions, air quality (including critical values), and visible injury to vegetation. The standards to protect plants, livestock and other domestic animals are briefly discussed. In addition, some general water quality standards for fluoride for irrigation and for livestock and wildlife in several international jurisdictions are tabulated.
