Summary:Highlights • Nanomedicine, which focuses on the use of nanoparticles and nanotechnology in the bio-medical domain, is increasingly becoming a very active field of research. • Informatics support for nanomedicine is less developed and there is a substantial lack of authoritative sources of information accessible to non–informatics specialists. • This review are to: (1) review research involving the use of data mining and machine learning in the field of nanomedicine and (2) examine the progress and challenges that this relatively new field of nanoinformatics faces to become a major contributor toward the development of effective nanomedicines.
