Summary:Clark and Reed examine the provisions of Arizona's House Bill 2281, which for all intents and purposes torpedoes the Tucson Unified School District's Ethnic Studies program, claiming that it reflects white anxiety and resentment as embodied in the election of Pres Obama and the emergence of the Tea Party. Focsing on the state's American Indian Studies program, they show how the law, in effect, fails because it denies the opportunity to be fully human in relationship to places, cultures and each other.
